Tracey Goodwin BA(Hons) PG Cert. MBACP(Registered) Counselling and Psychotherapy

What is counselling about? –
Most of us need help or feel ‘overwhelmed’ at some point in our lives. You may be feeling anxious, depressed, lonely, vulnerable, angry, distressed, isolated, traumatised, confused or generally unable to cope. You may be finding it difficult to know where to turn. I really believe that counselling/psychotherapy can help. I listen with empathy and understanding and work with you to explore deeper more difficult feelings, which can help you to bring about positive changes in your life so that you feel more able to cope, better about yourself and able to live the life you choose.
I adopt a warm, caring and sensitive approach to counselling, offering empathy, acceptance and unconditional positive regard for all of my clients, within a safe, non-judgemental, confidential environment and a climate of trust, honesty, openness and genuine respect. I want my clients to feel comfortable and valued and that the issues they bring are important.

What do I offer? -
I am a fully qualified and experienced Person Centred Counsellor and a fully Registered Member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists), which means that my work is professionally recognised and that I meet high professional and ethical standards through my practice. I am also able to offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which is a more direct, solution-focused, goal orientated approach and I have also recently applied for membership of the BABCP (British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies).
Much of my work is integrative and I can also offer online counselling for those who prefer this method or are less mobile, depending on client needs.
I have a fully enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Certificate and a full Public Liability Insurance Certificate. I also attend monthly independent Clinical Supervision, with confidentiality clauses (as required by the BACP) and regular Continued Professional Development.
In addition to my own private practice, I work as a specialist mental health advisor in two local universities.

Who are my Clients? -
As well as my work with adults, I have vast specialist experience (over 25 years) of working with vulnerable children and young people, around a wide range of mental health issues, conditions and traumatic experiences, which may have caused distress, anxiety and low-self-esteem.
In addition, I am highly specialised in working with people of all ages, who are on the Autism Spectrum, (including Asperger's Syndrome) or those living with a Learning Disability and their families. Over the years, I have worked with people with a wide range of disabilities, complex needs or personal challenges and understand the additional pressures which this can often bring in day to day life, both to themselves and to the people around them.
